Mercedes AMG
Mercedes-AMG GmbH, commonly known as AMG, is a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz automobile company, which specializes in high-performance luxury cars.
AMG models tend to be more aggressive look, higher performances, better handling and greater stability, as well as greater use of carbon fiber, than their counterparts in regular Mercedes. AMG models are usually the most expensive and high performance of each series of Mercedes, with the exception of not-AMG V12 model are found in the most expensive plates range Mercedes.
AMG was founded as a fake racing engine in 1967 under the name of AMG Motorenbau und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH (AMG Engine Production and Development, Ltd), a former Mercedes engineers Hans Werner Erhard Melcher, and Aufrecht in Burgstall der Murr, near Stuttgart. The letters "AMG" stand for Aufrecht, Melcher and Großaspach, place of birth Aufrecht (but never AMG place). In 1976, most moved to Affalterbach AMG, with a racing engine development remaining at the old place in Burgstall. At this time, Erhard Melcher was no longer a partner, but continued to be an employee of Burgstall place.
In 1990, with AMG became notorious supplier of modified car Mercedes, Daimler-Benz AG and AMG have signed a cooperation agreement that allows the use of AMG extensive dealer network company Daimler-Benz and leading to often designed vehicles (of which the first Mercedes-Benz C36 AMG , 1993). January 1, 1999 DaimlerChrysler, as it was known between 1998 and 2007, acquired a 51 percent stake in AMG, AMG, and was renamed to Mercedes-AMG GmbH. racing engine development was denied and continues to exist in Burgstall called HWA (initials in Aufrecht). January 1, 2005 Aufrecht sold the remaining shares DaimlerChrysler, and since she was a subsidiary.
AMG started with the development and testing of racing engines. It expanded its business to create a special road car based on standard cars Mercedes.
AMG was originally prepared by a number of informal update packs and accessories primarily for the Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107, Mercedes-Benz W116, Mercedes-Benz W123, Mercedes-Benz W124, Mercedes-Benz W126 Mercedes-Benz R129 and Mercedes-Benz W201 models.
In the early 1980s and until 1985, AMG offers a variety of characteristics of the engine package, alloy wheels and styling products.
Typical AMG performance, which can all be specially commissioned by the buyer, included increased engine displacement (5.2 liters, 5.4 liters), the performance of the upper ends of which are included port and polished heads / intake, lightweight valve train and more aggressive cams. DOHC 32V engine also has just been developed and was the top performance of AMG. Even very rare Getrag 5-speed manual gearbox could be ordered from AMG and Mercedes did not offer V8 manual transmission since the beginning of the 1970s.
Performance wheels offered for the same period there were 15 "or 16" AMG five spoke PBX Road Wheels, commonly referred to as Pentas. Penta was actually a British company, which is complemented by a strong demand for AMG wheel at a time with a replica, and only a very small difference between styles, but they were not made or endorsed by the AMG. Genuine wheels AMG, often in combination with AMG performance suspension package that included the forced / lowered springs and dampers revalved.
Another popular cosmetic upgrade kits were AMG body. These ranged from subtle spoiler in front, so aggressive wide body kit for W126 coupe. Other options include Recaro seats, a smaller diameter steering wheel, instrument cluster, chrome delete option (all color coded or painted brightworks black satin), refrigerators, shift knob, Hi-Fi stereo systems, custom upholstery and interior enhanced packages of wood.
Issue AMG Hammer sedan in 1986, based on the W124 E-Class, took AMG's performance modifications for rapid compact sedan to the next level. AMG did a quick passenger sedan in the world at the time, nicknamed the Hammer, squeezing Mercedes 5,6-liter V8 tuned to 360 hp AMG in the mid-size sedan. He was very aggressive at that time, 32-valve cylinder head and two overhead camshafts, and is said to be faster than a Lamborghini Countach from 60 to 120 miles / hr. Later models were more powerful and has introduced 17 "AMG Aero 1 Hammer Wheels. 1986 was also the year presented a Mercedes 560 M117 engine. It gave another opportunity for customers to order the largest displacement AMG are available at the time, 6L 100 mm bore SOHC or DOHC engines are available for W126 coupe and sedan.
Through the early 2000s, AMG concentrated mainly on the supercharged V8 and V6 engines, but the company officially abandoned this technology in 2006 with the introduction of turbocharging 6.2L M156 V8. January 16, 2006, Mercedes-AMG Chairman Volker Mornhinweg told AutoWeek, the company would use turbocharging for higher productivity, rather than boost. In 2011, released AMG M157 5.5L biturbo V8, which replaced the M156 in its full-size cars such as the S-Class and CL-Class.

Although there were some AMG models in the 1980s with a manual transmission, almost all recent models have used automation (5G-Tronic, and later with the 7G-Tronic Speedshift), in contrast to the BMW M and the benefits that have been used recently semi-automatic transmissions (currently time type, double-clutch). Beginning in 2009, however, AMG began using a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT double clutch.
Although it is considered the most famous units in the home setting, Mercedes-AMG has a much different philosophy than the BMW M. Mercedes-AMG has created a high-performance versions of many of their boards, including the flagship sedans and sport utility vehicles, while BMW M said setting only vehicles with the "Lateral mobility" (which has long been only 3 Series, 5 Series, and Roadsters). While the founders Hans Werner Erhard and Aufrecht Melcher said proper racing car, Mercedes-AMG dispersed much of this philosophy in recent years, with their suggestions as well-known straight-line acceleration but poor handling dynamics. Currently, however, Mercedes-AMG Chairman Volker Mornhinweg called the division to return to his roots building sports cars.
